The inspiration for “Waste My Time” came from mindlessly scrolling through my newsfeed –
I felt like I was wasting time and I recognised that, but I also found myself not stopping. This
is what inspired the hook “When I waste my time, wanna waste more time"

With the consistency Oshua has shown releasing tracks throughout this year, he has really established himself as a serious artist receiving a lot of praise and a exponential increase of listeners.
We already did an 'Artist Insght' segment with Oshua to ask him a few questions on why he pursued music and to get to know him better so go check that out!
'Waste my time' gives some personal insight into what I think about/experience when I’m in my bedroom – I hope people can relate, some thoughts progress quickly and become overly happy or sad and some thoughts just wonder for no real reason, to me, this bedroom retrospective is also a form of “time-wasting” – someone might argue that daily reflections are a form of self-improvement and have positive benefits but I’d argue that when your
reflections are consistently out of your control every single day and night it is the complete opposite of helpful – I find it hard to think my way out of negative reflection.
Here's a clip from his previous single 'Monke'
"Do you usually look for an instrumental first? Or do you write lyrics and then produce the
instrumental?"
I almost always find the instrumental first, whether that’s through co-production
or beats that I am sent, I usually find a vocal melody first once I’ve found the beat, I then
come up with a concept and then write my lyrics to fill that concept and vocal melody.
"Do you feel like “waste my time” could be a reflection on 2020, with a lot of people stuck at
home?"
100%, I feel like a lot of people have had more time to reflect and have that daily
bedroom retrospect because of the impact of COVID-19 and quarantine. Whenever there is
nothing to do your brain is given the chance to wonder and this is definitely applicable to
being stuck at home/in your room.
