Artist Insight #2 - BrunchBox

BrunchBox is back stronger than ever with their newest single 'Dreaming'. These three childhood friends from Sheffield working together in a DIY fashion since 2017, BrunchBox

is a passion project for them. The new song 'Dreaming' is about uncertain feeling in a relationship, something most of us have experienced in our lives.

We posed some questions to the three boys and had a quick chat. Here's what they had to say

What inspired the name? It clearly catches an eye!

Andrew: I think Gabriel gets credit for brunchbox! Joe came up with lunchbox but another band had already nabbed that and brunchbox was born. Although there is a 90’s techno thing called BrunchBox, so hopefully we don’t get sued...

“This is your first song in over a year, how does it feel coming back together?”

Andrew: We’re just really excited to properly get some real tunes out.

Gabriel: It feels amazing to have finally got back into the studio

Joe: It’s really exciting to see where we can go next!

“What was the idea and the concept behind “dreaming”, what really led to the sound?”

Andrew: Well, dreaming was written maybe three years ago? So the core of the song is still the old real Indie Rock sound. That being said, me and Gabriel essentially stripped down and rebuilt the track, our influences have definitely changed over the years so the sound is hopefully far more nuanced.

“Future plans? An album maybe??"

Andrew: We can’t give too much away! But we definitely didn’t spend the whole summer only making one track...

“Any advice for some kid trying to make it in the music industry"

Andrew: We’re definitely by no means the authority, we’re trying our best to do the same! But I’d just say do music for the love of it, not for what it might bring you.

With their single release of Friday the 27th, It has really been super exciting for the trio. Already receiving numerous compliments from old fans and new. Their production truly stands out, with influence from the Wombats and Hippo Campus clearly seen. We are super excited to see what they come out with next!
